Anna's Christmas Favor Bags

Every year we go a little crazy at Christmas time and this was 2011‘s Christmas Eve table.  I made the favor bags to match the “Board Game” theme, but these can be made with any fabric for any occasion.

What you will need:
1/2 yard Outer Fabric
1/2 yard Lining Fabric
Pellon

Instructions:
1) Cut 2 outside pieces 12” x 9” (unfinished).
2) Cut 2 lining pieces 12” x 9” (unfinished).
3) Cut 4 pellon  (single sided fusible) pieces 12” x 9” (unfinished).
4) Iron 1 piece of pellon to each of the 2 outside and 2 lining pieces.
5) With right sides together, sew the outside pieces together leaving the top open.
6) Cut out a 2 ½ square on the bottom two corners.
7) Matching the seams, sew the small openings closed.
8) Cut a 2 ½ inch strip of fabric to make the ruffle.  Sew the two ends together and iron in half with the outside facing out.  Create a ruffle in your favorite manner.
9) Turn the outside right side out and sew the ruffle onto the outer edge.
10) With right sides together, sew the lining pieces together leaving the top open and a three to four inch gap on the bottom for turning.
11) Cut out a 2 ½ square on the bottom two corners.
12) Matching the seams, sew the small openings closed.
13) Insert the outside piece into the cavity of the lining piece, the rights sides of the lining and outside should be together and sew the bag top closed.
14) Turn from the opening in the bottom of the lining piece.
15) Sew the lining bottom gap closed.
16) Topstitch the top and you are done!
